Peter Brady

RICHLAND SHIELD & BANNER:  15 August 1896, Vol. LXXIX, No. 14

The remains of Peter Brady, who was killed early Sunday morning near the B. & O. Depot, as mentioned in the Sunday's SHIELD, will be interred Tuesday morning at 8:30 o'clock from St. Peter's Catholic church.

Brady was frightfully mangled.  His head was completely severed from his body, his right arm was cut off near the shoulder and his left arm was cut off just below the elbow.

It is reported that Brady had been drinking to some extent Saturday and the theory is that he lost his way and sat down on the railroad track to rest, fell asleep and was struck by the train and killed.  Brady was with several friends and it was thought at first that the was robbed and then thrown under the train.  This theory, however, is discredited.  Beyond the three injuries described there is not a mark or scratch upon the body.
